What are your technical support hours?
A:10:00am to 11:00pm eastern United States time (GMT -0500) email support is available. Phone support is available from 10:00am to 8:30pm. Emergency support is available 24 hours per day for emergencies only.
Do you have a money-back guarantee?
A:Yes, we have a 30 day money back satisfaction guarantee as outlined in our Privacy Policy.
Is there a minimum contract period?
A:The only minimum periods for each account are the minimum periods for which each account type is available. Most accounts may be purchased on a month-to-month basis.
What types of payment do you accept?
A:We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover/Novus, checks drawn on US banks, money orders in US funds, and cash (cash payments are made at your own risk). Checks drawn on non-US banks are subject to a charge of $25 to cover our costs in cashing the check.
Can I pay with my credit card online?
A:We accept credit card payments online. Just use our secured Online Payment Form.
I have a registered non-profit organization and need hosting. Can you offer me a special deal?
A:Probably, please contact us and describe your organization and your requirements. Be sure to include the country where you are located and, if in the US, if you are a registered non-profit.
Who owns my domain when I register it through you?
A:You do. You, or the person you specify when you sign up, will be listed as the administrative and billing contact on your domain and will retain full control over it at all times unless you reverse the charges on your account or your payment is returned to us.
Is the domain fee included in your prices?
A:If you are registering a .com, .net, or .org domain name we will automatically register your domain for you for $25 per year unless you tell us not to. This is the total cost of ownership, there is no additional registration fee.
Do you host online games like MUDs?
A:Yes, we provide hosting for online games through our networking division, InetSolve Solutions, Inc.
    Do you support FrontPage Extensions?
A:Yes, we support FrontPage Extensions on our Windows Servers. Please note that you must specifically request a Windows Account in order to be placed on a Windows server.
Do I need to have my own unique IP address?
A:Our standard small and basic hosting packages use HTTP 1.1. This means that people using modern browsers (Netscape 1.1+ and Internet Explorer 2.0+) will be able to see your site without a problem and will never know the difference.
Why don't you just give everyone their own IP address?
A:There are a limited number of IP addresses in the world and that number is rapidly being depleted. Once the IP addresses are gone, they're gone--there just won't be any more for anyone else. There is some work being done to establish a new system but it would take a very long time to implement it and it is not near completion yet. So, in an effort to do our part, we minimize the number of IP addresses we use. More than 95% of our clients use shared IP addresses and do not report that they have any trouble with them at all.
If I refer my friend to you and he signs up do I get something for it?
A:Yes, we offer a 10% referral fee when your friend (or anyone else you refer) makes their payment. If they make one annual payment you will receive it all at once. If they sign up on a monthly plan then 10% of the amount they pay each month will be credited to your account. Please see our Privacy Policy for more information on this.
Why does hosting on a Windows machine cost more than hosting on a Linux machine?
A:Due to the overhead involved in establishing and maintaining Windows servers (software, additional staff, etc.) we must charge more for Windows accounts.
What server software are you running?
A:Our Linux servers run Linux Slackware (or Red Hat, on a few machines) and Apache. Our Windows servers run Windows 2000 and IIS.
Why Slackware? Why not Red Hat on all systems?
A:We believe Slackware to be a better and more secure operating system and it is more compatible with our goals and preferences.
Do you offer Real Content capability?
A:We offer Real Content capability on a case-by-case basis with 50MB and larger accounts.
I want to accept credit cards through my website, can I do this on your servers?
A:Yes, you'll need to select a shopping cart and you will need to have a merchant account with a bank. You may also opt to go with one of our eCommerce accounts, which provides a point-and-click shopping cart system.
How do I get a merchant account?
A:If you are located in the United States you should go to your local bank where you have your business checking account and inquire about this. Your local bank is probably the least expensive alternative. Do not fall for one of the scams offered on the Internet which claims to offer guaranteed no-hassle merchant accounts. They will generally cost you several thousand dollars in hidden fees. If you are not located in the United States you should contact your local bank to find out if they can help you. If you cannot get a merchant account through a bank due to financial or credit issues you might consider PayPal or a similar company.
What will people see in the address bar when they go to my site?
A:If they are using an HTTP 1.1 compatible browser or if you have a unique IP address they will see your domain name. This means that almost, if not entirely, all the people that visit your site will see your domain name.
    Do you back-up my website?
A:We back-up all the data on the servers daily. These back-ups are available at no cost only if the entire server needs to be reloaded. Because we cannot guarantee the viability of any given day's back-up, we strongly encourage all users to keep copies of their data on their own computers.
How are you connected to the Net?
A:We are connected via multiple redundant lines directly to Genuity and UUNet. We have made a commitment to our clients to use less than 66% of our available bandwidth and our clients often tell us how pleased they are with the connection speed.
    Do you offer telnet/ssh access?
A:We offer SSH access to the shell on many of our accounts on a by-request basis. You may not leave processes running when you log out or run CPU-intensive programs when you are logged in except by prior arrangement.
    What is your uptime guarantee?
A:We guarantee that all shared hosting servers will have a 99.9% uptime average exclusive of natural or manmade disaster or circumstances beyond our control or scheduled downtime. We have maintained an uptime average of over 99.99% since we first went online.
How long have you been in business?
A:We have been providing Internet services since 1996 and commercial web hosting services since July of 1998.
